Special teams formed to inquire health of coronavirus-positive cops
Different police units are forming "special teams" to visit and inquire about the health of Covid-19 positive force members in person, while maintaining physical distancing.
"The teams will visit Covid-19 positive police personnel, inquire about their health condition and take steps to solve their problems and ensure treatment for all irrespective of their positions in the force," says a press release sent by police headquarters.
Inspector General of Police Benazir Ahmed directed to form the teams in every unit.
The move came so that infected police personnel and those in isolation and quarantine do not feel demoralised, police officials said.
Till yesterday, at least 1,429 police personnel were infected and of them 708 are from Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).
So far, 96 police personnel have recovered while six have died from infection.
Besides, around 3,300 are in isolation or in quarantine.
As Central Police Hospital is struggling to deal with the huge number of patients, police authorities have booked a private hospital to treat its members.
