GUIDE TO SUCCEEDING IN FIFA ULTIMATE TEAM

As FIFA 16 just released, here's a guide to becoming successful in FIFA Ultimate Team. 

First off, FUT player categories are divided into three according to their OVR score – Bronze, Silver and Gold. You have to start with a team full of bronze players who simply aren't good (unless you get Akinfenwa). Thus most likely you'll be stomped in online matches. It's recommended you play single player FUT matches to rack up coins for better players before you go online.

FIFA 16 has changed the gameplay in a lot of aspects. Pace is not OP enough that you can race down the lines past your opponents. The decrease in dependency on pace means you can actually use widebacks like Ivanovic on RB and they can catch up to the likes of Bale and Ronaldo. Slow CBs are viable as defending has improved vastly and players can intercept a lot. Players recover quickly after a slide tackle.Conventional tactics like playing long balls through the middle are obsolete. The inclusion of no touch dribbling is perhaps the most definitive part of the new features. Players now have to wait for the right moment to release their passes. Finesse and strength serve as the OP factors. 

With the inclusion of FUT draft, everything has changed. This new mode tests your team building skills as you pick the players who fit the best for each position from a five-player draw. After a draft you can challenge opponents to win rewards for your main team.

In FUT, choosing a player depends a lot on how you play. If you play a slow passing game then you should go for midfielders who can pass really well. If you play a high pressure game, stamina and strength are two factors you have to focus upon. Last year, many people ignored the Liga BBVA players due to the shortage in speed but this year, the likes of Arda Turan and Koke will be very useful to you. Barclays Premier League is OP as always and any 80+ player from there will help you win matches. Serie A midfielders and defenders like Marchisio, Chiellini are very strong additions and they come in as really good picks but the league lacks in good widebacks. Ligue 1 might serve you well this time with players like Ibrahimovic or Lacazette who can score you the goals that you need. 

For starter squads, you should look for a squad that is OP but extremely cheap and Serie A is the most recommended league for this as most of their players come in at 1/4th of the prices that you need for BPL players. And skills are very important. Skills can give you that edge you need to win.
