Education activities in the Rohingya camps in Cox’s Bazar have been suspended amid funding shortage, putting the education of around 2.5 lakh children at risk.

An estimated 1,50,000 new Rohingya have arrived in Bangladesh in the recent months and 50,000 more are expected to join them by this year end, putting further strains on Bangladesh.

"Acting on a tip-off, police detained 45 Rohingya people inside a closed ship-breaking yard. Among them, 14 are men, 11 women, and 20 children."

Rohingyas are entering Bangladesh through various points along the Bangladesh-Myanmar border from Naikhongchhari in Bandarban to Teknaf in Cox’s Bazar.

Following reports of Myanmar verifying 1,80,000 Rohingyas for potential repatriation, a wave of mixed feelings has washed over the camps in Cox’s Bazar and Bhasan Char.

Another 70,000 pending further scrutiny

The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) has moved away from its recent decision to halve the monthly food aid for the Rohingya refugees in Cox’s Bazar and Bhashan Char.
