Xi’s visit: BNP for upholding national interest
BNP urged the government to maintain national interest in inking deals with the Chinese president, who is due in Dhaka tomorrow in a much-hyped official visit.
“We welcome the Chinese president,” said BNP leader Goyeshwar Chandra Roy today. “But, it must be seen to that no deal anti to the national interest is signed.”
Goyeshwar was speaking to the press at his office in Nayapaltan in a get-together programme organised post to the Durga Puja of the Hindu community.
Xi Jinping will come in Dhaka tomorrow. However, it is still unclear whether a meeting with BNP leaders is on the schedule of the Chinese premier.
The visit is being deemed of significant importance. China is likely to pledge big to Bangladesh and promise big investments in its infrastructure development.
