Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader today said that an instance was set up in holding a free, fair and impartial election in the Narayanganj City Corporation.

“We were committed to hold the Narayanganj City Corporation Polls in a fair and credible manner and we’ve kept our promise, every word of it,” Quader said at a post-polls press conference at the party chief Sheikh Hasina’s Dhanmondi office in Dhaka this afternoon.

Claiming the election as an instance of credibility, Quader said the Election Commission has proved its ability and impartiality through the election.

He said that there were speculations of violence in the election but the Election Commission has proved the possibility baseless.

Quader also thanked the Election Commission and dwellers of the Narayanganj city for helping to hold the election in a fair manner.

He also expressed his optimism over the victory of his party backed candidate Selina Hayat Ivy.

Awami League joint general secretaries Mahbubul Alam Hanif, Dipu Moni, Jahangir Kabir Nanok and Abdur Rahman, among others, were present at the press conference.
