Stand beside religious minorities: PM
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today called upon the countrymen to stand beside the religious minorities to ensure their overall security.
The premier was addressing the people of Rajshahi division through a video conference from her official residence, Gono Bhaban, in Dhaka this afternoon.
“It is moral responsibility of everybody to ensure the security of the religious minorities. Religious harmony will have to be upheld at any cost,” she said.
The prime minister made the call when the people of religious minorities are reeling from the recent spate of attacks on Hindu community in Nasirnagar upazila of Brahmanbaria and Santals in Gobindaganj upazila of Gaibandha.
“BNP-Jamaat blamed for militancy”
The prime minister blamed BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami for the emergence of militancy and extremism in the country.
The militancy and terrorism have emerged in the country following the footsteps of the BNP-Jamaat sponsored acts of terrorism, the PM accused.
She also held BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia responsible for the menace of militancy in the country. “BNP-Jamaat has shown the path of killing people.”
Sounding a note of caution against militancy and terrorism, the prime minister said there is no space for militancy and terrorism in the country.
