Shafia president, Mahmuda gen sey of Mohila AL

The women front of ruling Awami League today elected its new committee with Shafia Khatun and Mahmuda Begum as its new president and general secretary respectively.

Shafia was vice-president and Mahmuda was organising secretary of the immediate past committee of Mohila Awami League.

AL General Secretary Obaidul Quader announced the names at the 5th national council of the Mohila Awami League at the Krishibid Institution Bangladesh in Dhaka.

He also announced names of presidents and general secretaries of the organisation’s Dhaka City North and South units at the programme.

Shahida Tarek Dipti and Shobnom Shila will lead Mohila AL’s Dhaka City North unit as president and general secretary respectively, while Sabera Begum and Nargis Rahman were elected as president and general secretary of Dhaka City South unit respectively.

Earlier, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, also president of the Awami League, inaugurated the council in the morning.

The last council of the organisation was held on July 12, 2003, where Ashrafunnesa Mosharraf and Fazilatunnesa Indira were elected as president and general secretary.

Later, Indira was made woman affair secretary of Awami League in 2009 and since then Pinu Khan took the responsibility of general secretary of the women front.
