Refrain from misguiding people: AL asks Khaleda

Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader has called upon BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia to return to the path of democracy and healthy politics, refraining from misguiding people by spreading lies.

Quader today came up with the call responding to an interview given by Khaleda to a newspaper yesterday. The AL leader claimed that the interview demeaned achievement of the government and tarnish the political image of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

“Khaleda’s speech in the interview was a blatant lie, baseless and made-up. Khaleda Zia should return to the right path of democracy upholding her due political responsibilities,” Quader said in his reaction.

Quader said Khaleda Zia told a lie over different issues of the government that expresses her political bankruptcy and narrow-minded attitudes.

“Speaking a lie is BNP’s political culture,” Obaidul said adding it was an outcome of her (Khaleda) politics of vengeance.

Referring to Sheikh Hasina’s phone call to Khaleda, Obaidul said, “Our prime minister called Khaleda on October 26, 2013, as part of a dialogue with all political parties but she (Khaleda) used abusive words responding to the call.”

After three years of the incident, Khaleda Zia described the phone call as a stage-managed drama in the interview deliberately, Quader said.

Denying the call for dialogue, Khaleda Zia announced “war against the people” of the county extending patronisation to war criminals, militant outfits and religious extremists, he said.

Since its inception, BNP has been indulging in abduction, killing, coup, and conspiracy against the state, he said.

He also criticised Khaleda for her remarks on the parliament and claimed the incumbent parliament of Bangladesh has been recognised by the local and international communities.

“And it (parliament) is enough effective and strong,” he said describing BNP as a discourteous and uncivilised political party.

Bangladesh Protidin, a daily Bangla newspaper, published an elaborate interview of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia yesterday.
