NCC polls: BNP to visit EC, seek army deployment
A BNP delegation is on way to Election Commission office in Dhaka to press home their demands including deployment of army during the upcoming Narayanganj City Corporation polls.
The three-member BNP delegation led by the party’s Senior Joint Secretary General Rizvi Ahmed left their Nayapaltan central office for the commission’s office at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar around 1:30pm, Sayrul Kabir Khan, a staff of BNP chief’s media wing, told The Daily Star.
The team will demand for a level-playing field in the NCC elections scheduled for December 22, Sayrul said.

The two other members of the delegation are: Abul Khair and Abdus Salam, advisers of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia.
After filing her nomination papers to the local EC office, Awami League candidate Selina Hayat Ivy, told reporters that there is no need to deploy army in this election.
Ivy was the country's first elected female mayor.
