Khaleda seeks stay on Zia Charitable Trust trial
BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia today filed a petition with the High Court seeking a stay on the trial proceeding against her in Zia Orphanage Trust corruption case.
In the petition, Khaleda Zia seeks HC order upon the lower court concerned to transfer the case to another court.
Citing the petition, Khaleda's lawyer AM Mahbub Uddin Khokon told reporters that Khaleda Zia on February 2 submitted an application to the Special Judges Court -3 of Dhaka expressing no confidence on the judge of that court on different grounds.
But, Judge Abu Ahmed Jomadar of the Special Judge Court-3 of Dhaka rejected the no confidence petition, he said.
Khaleda today submitted a revision petition to the HC challenging the lower court’s rejection order, the lawyer added.
Barrister Khokon also said that Khaleda was not involved in any corruption regarding establishing the Zia Orphanage Trust.
The HC may hold hearing on the petition on February 13, he added.
