Khaleda may reveal formula on EC Nov 18

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia will hold a press conference on November 18 on formation of the Election Commission and next Jatiya Sangsad elections.
The press conference will be held at the Westin Dhaka at 4:00pm, Sayrul Kabir Khan, a member of BNP chief Khaleda’s media wing, told The Daily Star over phone.
Party sources said Khaleda, on behalf of the 20-party alliance, will propose a formula on the formation of the EC as tenure of the incumbent commission will expire in February next year.
Besides, Khaleda will also come up with a formula on how to hold a free, fair and inclusive national election.
She may also propose names of dignitaries, retired justice, members of civil society and politicians to form the election-time government, party insider said.
For forming the EC, she will propose for a search committee comprising of the members of civil society which will select the EC commissioners.
