Keep faith in president, Hanif to BNP

Awami League Joint General Secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif today asked BNP to keep faith in the president without creating any controversy over the Election Commission (EC) search committee.

The new EC to be formed by the President Abdul Hamid will be acceptable to all, he said while addressing a programme at Dhaka Dental College.

“All members of the search committee are qualified and they have no any political link. So BNP should keep trust in President Abdul Hamid without creating controversy unnecessarily,” he observed.

The president has formed the search committee based on outcomes of the talks held with different registered political parties. Despite this BNP is disappointed and frustrated, Hanif said.

“I hope he (Abdul Hamid) would form a competent and acceptable Election Committee,” the Awami League leader said.

BNP is making misleading remarks in a bid to make the entire election process controversial, Hanif said.

About the task of the search committee, Hanif said the search body would prepare a list and then they would submit it to the president. And the president would form the new Election Commission based on the recommendation, he explained.

BNP is hatching conspiracy sensing absolute debacle in the next general election, Hanif said warning that the party will be paid befittingly through ballot if it does not shun the path.

Dhaka north unit of Shramik League, a labour front of the ruling Awami League, organised the programme.
