JP won’t participate in district council polls: Ershad

Jatiya Party will not participate in the upcoming district council elections, the party Chairman HM Ershad today said. 
Ershad, also a special adviser to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, told this to journalists while speaking at a programme in Dhaka.
JP called upon the government to hold talks with other political representatives of the parliament before formation of a new Election Commission (EC).
He also urged the government to form the new EC for holding a free and fair election.
Earlier on Thursday, BNP announced to boycott the district council elections.
