Huda in footsteps of ex-CEC: BNP
BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Rizvi Ahmed today blamed the Chief Election Commission Commissioner KM Nurul Huda for following paths of his predecessor Kazi Rakibuddin Ahmed in arranging “farcical polls”.
“The political characteristic of the present chief election commissioner is being unveiled day by day. He (Huda) is playing the flute of his predecessor Rakibuddin Ahmed,” he said.
Rizvi was addressing a press conference at the party’s Nayapaltan office in Dhaka.
He said local body elections are going to be held in many upazilas at different parts of the country on March 6.
BNP nominated candidates are being attacked, their posters are being removed and publicity activities are seriously being hampered due to the obstruction created by the ruling party men ahead of the election, he said.
Despite having allegation, the incumbent Election Commission is keeping mum. The countrymen are thinking that the Election Commission is marching forward with a license to ensure victory of the ruling party men, he added.
About participation in the election, Rizvi said BNP takes part in the election, alongside its movement, only to retrieve the country destroyed democracy.
“But Awami League does not listen to the sermon of democracy,” he added.
