BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia today termed the government as “anti-people” and blamed it for “destroying the country’s democracy by hanging on to power forcibly”.

“Our democracy, culture and geographical environment are being affected by the hegemonic forces everyday as Awami League hangs on to power forcibly,” Khaleda Zia said.

The former prime minister today came up with the allegations in a message marking the 40th death anniversary of Maulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhasani.

“The government is pushing the country to the verge of its the democratic collapse by signing secret deals,” she alleged.

The government has “snatched people’s democratic rights destroying the country democracy”, she said in the message.

“In this context, the political ideology of Moulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhasani is our main spirit and we will have to resist the local agent of the predominant forces to protect the country,” Khaleda said.
