Fakhrul, 25 others charged with vandalism
BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Moudud Ahmed and 24 others were charged with hurling crude bombs at policemen and damaging vehicles in March 2013.
Mohammad Enamul Haque, an inspector of Detective Branch of police and also the investigation officer of the case, today submitted two charge sheets to the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court of Dhaka.
Of the charge sheets, one was filed for hurling crude bombs at policemen and the other for damaging vehicles.
The other accused are BNP leaders Goyeshwar Chandra Roy, Mirza Abbas, Abdullah Al Noman, Amanullah Aman, Moazzem Hossain Alal, Shahiduddin Chowdhury Annee, Habibunnabi Khan Sohel, Barkatullah Bulu and Sultan Salauddin Tuku.
All the accused including Fakhrul and Moudud got bail from different courts on different dates.
According to the case statement, Fakhrul, Moudud and 24 others along with 1000 to 1200 unnamed leaders and activists brought out a protest procession in Shantinagar area of the capital on March 2 of 2013.
At one stage, they hurled five crude bombs at policemen and damaged several vehicles that left several cops seriously injured.
Later a case was filed with Paltan Police Station against Fakhrul, Moudud, Goyeshwar, Noman and 22 others for their alleged involvement with the incidents.
