Ex-LDP leader pulls out of NCC polls

Narayanganj City Corporation (NCC) mayor aspirant Kamal Prodhan, who was expelled from Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), today withdrew his candidature.

He made the announcement at a press conference in Narayanganj this afternoon and extended his support to the BNP-backed candidate Shakhawat Hossain.

“I’m withdrawing my candidature and supporting the BNP-backed candidate Shakhawat Hossain showing respect to the leadership of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia,” he told reporters at the BNP’s media cell office in the city.

Earlier, Kamal was expelled from LDP for his candidature violating the party’s decision.

All components of the 20-party alliance including LDP has decided to work for the victory of BNP-backed mayor candidate in the NCC election scheduled for December 22.
