Ex-EC search body member inducted as Ctg Mohila AL advisor

Chittagong University Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof Shireen Akhter, who was a search body member for reconstituting the Election Commission, has become an adviser of the port city unit of Mohila Awami League.

The unit President Hasina Mohiuddin announced the committee today at a press conference at Chittagong Press Club inducting the former search committee member as one of their six advisors.

Though BNP earlier alleged that Prof Shireen is backed by AL, she repeatedly denied her involvement in any kind of politics.

Soon after the Mohila unit of the ruling party was formed, The Daily Star tried to reach her over phone but did not get her comment directly.

However, one Yunus, introducing himself as the personal secretary to Prof Shireen, responded to the call.

She did not know anything about her induction in the Mohila Awami League committee and would talk later on, he said quoting Prof Shireen.
