EC search body to sit with 4 more eminent citizens tomorrow

The Election Commission search committee, that was scheduled to hold talks with more five civil society members tomorrow, will meet four eminent citizens to discuss on formation of an acceptable commission.

The meeting will begin at the Supreme Court Judges' Lounge around 11:00am, Cabinet Secretary Mohammad Shafiul Alam told The Daily Star.

The civil society members are Daily Samakal Editor Golam Sarwar, Barrister Rokonuddin Mahmud, former chief election commissioner Abu Hena and The Daily Star Editor and Publisher Mahfuz Anam.

The search committee also invited security expert Maj Gen (retd) Abdur Rashid to take part in the meeting but his name was dropped from the process as a case against him (Rashid) is still pending with the High Court, Alam said.
