EC to keep close watch on Khulna police commissioner, Gazipur SP: Huda
Chief Election Commissioner KM Nurul Huda today said the commission will keep close watch on the Khulna metropolitan police commissioner and superintendent of police in Gazipur ahead of the upcoming election in the two cities.
"We will oversee their activities whether they are engaged in discharging any biased role or not," Huda said after a delegation of BNP met him and demanded immediate withdrawal of the two police officials bringing allegation that they are playing biased roles ahead of the elections.
A four-member delegation led by BNP Standing Committee Member Abdul Moeen Khan met the CECat his office in Agargaon area of Dhaka this afternoon.
"I have not heard of any instance of creating obstacles by anyone in the elections," he said while addressing a press conference at his office after emerging from the meeting.
About BNP’s demand for withdrawal of the two police officials, he said, "I will have to sit with other commissioners to discuss the matter. If we, can reach a logical decision then the two police officials will be withdrawn. Otherwise, not."
Responding to a query, the CEC said the commission will monitor their activities to find out authenticity of the allegations brought against them.
