Country handed over to India in name of transit: BNP

BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Rizvi Ahmed today said the government has handed over the entire country to India by giving corridor facilities in the name of transit.

“An attempt is on to turn our government institution into an extensional part of a neighbouring country,” he also said, adding, “As a result political, financial and cultural aggression in Bangladesh takes into an acute turn.”

Rizvi made the allegation while addressing a press conference at the party’s Nayapaltan central office in Dhaka this noon.

The government has plunged the country’s independence and sovereignty into a deep crisis with the intention to hang on to power, he alleged.

He also criticised the government for “targeting Zia’s family members” and said the government wants to destroy nationalist forces deliberately.

“Zia’s family members are being harassed inhumanly by keeping guns on the shoulder of the judiciary,” he added.

Terming the harassment as politics of vengeance, Rizvi said BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia is being forced to appear before a court twice in a week.

“It is nothing but an outcome of politics of vengeance of the chief of the government,” he said.
