Jatiya Party Chairman Hussein Muhammad Ershad today expressed concerns over the fair polls in upcoming district council elections.

“People are talking about district council elections. Some want to participate, many don’t. Why people will go in the elections? What is the benefit? Violence is taking place in elections.”

Criticizing the government, the special envoy of prime minister said people of the country are not in peace and there is no security of people.

“Corruption is everywhere. Today it takes eight to nine lakh taka to get a constable job. The young generation is in danger today due to frustration.”

Also, discussing about the next general elections, the former military ruler urged his party colleagues to strengthen the party to get success in the next national elections.

“People want change, want to see Jatiya Party in power. There is a chance. As we always election friendly party, we will participate in the elections no matter who will participate or not,” he said.

Pointing his finger to the party leaders and activists, Ershad said, “I am asking you to go to the people and earn peoples love and trust and then we can assume the office in the future.”

The former military ruler was speaking at a programme in Kakrial office to mark the National Youth Day organized by Jatiya Party’s youth front Jatiya Jubo Sanghati.
