BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today claimed that the government is taking the country in a wrong direction and called for a dialogue towards an acceptable and inclusive general election.

“We want general election under a neutral government and the government should hold a dialogue with all stakeholders for an acceptable and inclusive election to get rid of the crisis,” he added.

Awami League has become “politically bankrupt and thus is now fully dependent on the law enforcement agencies”, he said while talking to media at his Uttara residence in Dhaka.

“This is an unelected government. That is why it has created all these crisis situations,” he claimed.

“We have been calling upon the government since long to hold talks but it did not pay any heed to our call,” he added. “We once again, call for a dialogue to hold an inclusive and acceptable election.”
