BNP calls upon EC to stop electoral talks
BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Rizvi Ahmed today called upon the Election Commission to stop its electoral talks and urged it to work for restoration of the people’s voting rights.
“Please stop the electoral talks and gain people’s trust without making mockery,” Rizvi made the call while addressing a press briefing at the party’s Nayapaltan central office in Dhaka this afternoon.
The chief election commissioner is telling that he would consider the suggestions given by the civil society members in light of the existing electoral law and the constitution, Rizvi said.
“If it is that, then why you (CEC) are staging a drama in the name of talks?”
Claiming that BNP’s 90 percent suggestions over the upcoming general election have been ignored, Rizvi said the 11th parliamentary polls will not be held in free and fair manner under the current electoral law and constitution.
