BNP writes to president for appointment

Star Online Report

BNP today put forward a letter to President Abdul Hamid seeking his appointment to discuss on Khaleda Zia’s proposal on election commission.

A four-member delegation of BNP handed over the letter to a staff at Bangabhaban around 4:21pm, Sayrul Kabir Khan, a staff of Khaleda Zia’s media wing, told The Daily Star.

The letter was signed by BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, he said.

Earlier on Friday, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia proposed a 13-point plan for the process of forming the EC on the basis of consensus of all political parties.

In response to the proposal, Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader at a press conference on the same day termed the demand as ‘hollow and ridiculous’.
