Star Online Report

In a latest development, BNP tonight decided to participate in the Narayanganj City Corporation (NCC) election.

BNP standing committee, the highest policy-making body of the party, took the decision at a meeting with Chairperson Khaleda Zia in the chair at her Gulshan office.

“BNP is a democratic party and it believes in election. The party thinks the government can be changed only through election. That’s why BNP standing committee has taken the decision to participate in the upcoming Narayanganj City Corporation election,” Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, secretary general of the party, said at a briefing after the meeting.

The party however will boycott Zila Parishad election, Fakhrul said.

Narayanganj City Corporation (NCC) will go for polls on December 22, announced the Election Commission (EC) on November 14.
