BNP leader Sohel sent to jail in arson cases

A Dhaka court today sent BNP leader Habib-un-Nabi Khan Sohel to jail in 23 arson cases on his surrender before it.
The cases were filed against Sohel, a joint secretary general of BNP and president of Swechchhasebak Dal, him with Paltan and Motijheel police stations in 2015.
Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Lutfur Rahman Shishir passed the order after Sohel surrendered before the court seeking bail in 41 arson cases.
All the 41 cases were filed against him with different police stations of the capital during BNP-led 20-party alliance's anti-government movement, defence lawyer Advocate Joynal Abedin Mesbah told The Daily Star.
