BNP today called for a judicial inquiry to identify the perpetrators behind the recent attack on the people of Hindu community at Nasirnagar upazila of Brahmanbaria.

A BNP team led by Maj (retd) Hafizuddin Ahmed, vice chairman of the party, made the demand while talking to reporters after visiting the affected areas this afternoon.

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia sent a 15-member delegation to Nasirnagar to learn firsthand about the rampage on the Hindu minority community there.

“We only demand exemplary punishment of the culprits behind the attacks. We don’t want to do politics centering the issue,” he added.

Meanwhile, Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) today came forward with the same demand to find out the real culprits and cause of the attacks.

CPB also demanded a fresh investigation into the incident, cancelling the two probe bodies of Brahmanbaria district administration and police formed earlier, according to a press release.

A delegation of the party led by its central leader Ragib Ahsan Munna visited the affected area on Wednesday.

In the press release, CPB president Mujahidul Islam Selim termed the attack as a preplanned one and urged all to stand against the communal forces which led the attack.
