‘B’baria mayhem orchestrated to put blame on BNP’
Blaming the government for the attacks on Hindus in Nasirnagar of Brahmanbaria, BNP today said such incidents have been orchestrated to put the blame on the party.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir told this to journalists after laying a floral wreath at the grave of late president Ziaur Rahman at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar on the occasion of “National Solidarity Day” around 11:40am.
“The government is taking our democratic rights by not allowing us holding meetings and rallies but I hope that it will give us permission to hold a rally tomorrow at Dhaka's Nayapaltan marking National Revolution and Solidarity Day,” Fakhrul said.
The government is distorting the history of November 7, the BNP leader alleged.
The BNP and its like-minded organisations observe the day, as they say, on this day in 1975, civil-military “uprising” freed the then army chief Ziaur Rahman from captivity in Dhaka cantonment.
