Govt should resign: Fakhrul
Awami League should resign and pave way for the next parliamentary polls under a supportive government, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said today.
“The government should show respect to the High Court verdict on 16th amendment and resign… and hold the next parliamentary polls under a supportive government,” he said.
He came up with the call while talking to reporters after placing wreaths at the grave of the party founder Ziaur Rahman at Sher-e-Banglanagar in Dhaka this noon.
Awami League has been plunged into inconvenience as the HC declared 16th amendment illegal and unconstitutional, Fakhrul said.
“We have no reason to be happy over the annulment of the 16th amendment. We have welcomed it as people's opinion over the government, Awami League and its politics has been reflected through the verdict,” he added.
