Misusing section 57 of ICT Act suicidal: Quader

Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader today termed the misuse of section 57 of Information and Communication Technology Act as suicidal and blamed a group of vested quarter for it.

“Application of section 57 of the Information and Communication Technology Act based on trifling matter will have to be stopped. Otherwise, its trend will be suicidal,” Quader also road transport and bridges minister said.

He was addressing a programme marking birthday of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s elder son Sheikh Kamal at the National Press Club in Dhaka.

Claiming that the country is not in a good condition, Quader said a group of vested quarter is engaged in hatching conspiracy to create an issue against the government in many ways. “We will have to be cautious.” he said.

BNP is happy over scrapping of the 16th amendment to the constitution, Quader said adding, “No result will be brought by creating issues against the government without engaging people.”
