Arson charges against Khaleda, 79 others accepted

A Dhaka court today accepted the charges against BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia and 79 activists of 20-party alliance in three arson cases filed last year.
The court also issued arrest warrants against 71 activists of the BNP-led 20-party alliance including former BNP lawmaker Syeda Asifa Ashrafi Papia showing them fugitives.
Nine other accused, including Khaleda, are now in bail in the three cases.
Judge Kamrul Hossain Molla of Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court passed the order after scrunitising the charges and documents of the cases.
The court also ordered the officer-in-charge of Darussalam Police Station to submit reports on execution of the arrest warrants by October 18.
The cases were filed in January and February last year.
