Arrest order for 22 BNP men in arson case

A Dhaka court today issued arrest warrant against 22 BNP leaders and activists including Barkatullah Bulu and Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas in a case filed for creating subversive activities in Dhaka in February last year.

Bulu is vice-chairman of BNP and Shimul Biswas is the personal assistant to the party chief Khaleda Zia.

Former BNP lawmaker Syeda Ashifa Ashrafi Papia, Maruf Kamal Khan, Khairul Kabir Khokon, former BNP ward councilor Md Kaiyum are among the other accused in the case.

After accepting the charges against 30 including the 22 accused, Judge Kamrul Hossain Mollah of Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court passed the order showing them fugitive.    

The court fixed January 22, 2017 as the next date of hearing in the case.

On February 2 last year, the BNP men threw petrol bombs on a vehicle in Shantinagar of the capital.
