Talks with president based on Khaleda’s proposal: Fakhrul
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today said that they would meet the president for talks on new election commission in light with the proposal of the party chairperson Khaleda Zia.
“An independent election commission is needed for holding free, fair and impartial elections and we will meet President Abdul Hamid for talks in light with our proposal,” Fakhrul said.
He told reporters after paying tributes to the grave of the party founder Ziaur Rahman at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in Dhaka this noon marking the Victory Day.
He also alleged that the Awami League is running the country in an autocratic and authoritarian manner to eliminate its political opponents.
“One-party rule has been established in the country in an autocratic and authoritarian manner only to suppress different opinions and political opponents,” Fakhrul said.
