Awami League’s Office Secretary Abdus Sobhan Golap announced the committees for the divided parts of Dhaka’s North and South City units through a press release this afternoon.

The last three-yearly council of Awami League’s Dhaka unit was held on December 27, 2012 – twelve years after its predecessor – and the tenure of the committee expired on December 26, 2015.

After 2003, the city units of the capital got full-fledged committees.

Two powerful leaders Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya, who is now the relief and disaster management minister, and Qumrul Islam, the food minister, have been made advisory council members of Dhaka South.

Dhaka North City Mayor Annisul Huq, who didn't hold any portfolio of the party, has been elected an advisory council member at North, while Dhaka South City Corporation mayor Sayeed Khokon was made an executive member of AL South.
