AL to accord grand reception to PM Saturday

Awami League will accord a rousing reception to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Saturday for her ‘remarkable achievement over Rohingya issue’ in the United Nations General Assembly.

She will be accorded the reception on her arrival at the Hazrat Shahjajal International Airport around 9:30am wrapping up her three-week US and the UK visit.

Sheikh Hasina also president of the ruling Awami League, left the country on September 16, for New York to attend the 72nd Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

AL is planning to gather several lakhs of people on both sides of the Airport Road that lead to the Gono Bhaban, the official residence of the prime minister, for her remarkable achievement over Rohingya issue in UNGA, the party source said.

During the UN general assembly, the prime minister placed a five-point proposal to put a peaceful and sustainable end to the Rohingya crisis upholding the Annan Commission recommendation.

Over 507,000 Rohingya refugees intruded into Bangladesh till September 30 after Myanmar army launched ethnic cleansing of the minority group in Rakhine in retaliation of August 25 terror attack.
