PHQ to introduce online application in constable recruitment

Aiming to prevent corruption and irregularities in the police constable recruitment process, the Police Headquarters (PHQ) has decided to introduce an online application system.

PHQ also wants to modernise the whole process to ensure the most capable and qualified candidate appointments. The issues came up during a meeting of the inspector general of police (IGP) with other high officials at the PHQ today.

At the meeting, IGP Benazir Ahmed directed the human resources management directorate officials to make the application process online, according to a statement of the PHQ.

The police chief asked the officials to design easily understandable, user-friendly, online applications and examination procedures.

IGP said a pragmatic approach should be taken to prevent any kind of corruption and irregularities in the constable recruitment process. "Candidates need to follow proper security features for verification so that no one gets a job with a fake address or wrong information," he said.

Benazir also asked to keep an eye so that no unscrupulous clique can question the recruitment process in any way.

The police chief said long-term and advanced training plans for recruits need to be adopted and implemented by preparing their career plans. He further directed that training be provided at strategic, operational and tactical levels for police officers of all ranks.

IGP Benazir Ahmed had held a separate meeting with the officers of tourist police at the police headquarters today, reads another statement of PHQ.

During that meeting, the police chief stressed the need to modernise the tourist police unit.

He later directed the officials to organise modern training for tourist police officers and forces.

The IGP said the tourist police website and pages should be user-friendly so that tourists can easily know the location, security, facilities and other details of the desired tourist spots.
