1 more innocent dies to mindless arson

One more innocent life succumbed to the brutal and mindless arson today at the critical care of the Dhaka Medical College Hospital's burn unit.

Jahid, 50, a truck driver who was burnt in arson on a truck in Polashi of Narsingdi on February 12, succumbed today, said Dr Samanta Lal Sen, a doctor of the DMCH's burn unit.

"He was brought to the hospital with severe burn injuries and died attending treatments around 10:45am this morning at the intensive care unit (ICU)" he added.

This death raises the death toll of political violence this year to 74. Most of the victims who were caught in the middle of the violence were reportedly unrelated to politics.

Bangladesh has been experiencing agitation since the start of this year in strife between the BNP-led 20-party alliance and ruling Awami League over power.
