No import duties on 12 items needed during coronavirus outbreak

The National Board of Revenue (NBR) today removed all forms of import duties and taxes from 12 items, including personal protective equipment (PPE), raw materials used in hand sanitisers, coronavirus testing kits and surgical masks.

The NBR, in a gazette notification today, said the decision was taken to combat the coronavirus epidemic and will be effective till June 30.

The items are: Isopropyl Alcohol, Covid-19 test kits, Covid-19 diagnostic test instruments and apparatus, 3-layer surgical mask, protective garments made from plastic sheeting, plastic face shields, protective garment for surgical or medical use, medical protective gear, protective spectacles and goggles.
