Apple CEO Tim Cook used the closing moments of the company's Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2026 presentation to reflect on his tenure at the technology giant, in what is expected to be his final appearance at the annual developer event as CEO.

Tim Cook's remarks came two months after Apple announced that he would step down as chief executive in September 2026. He is set to become executive chairman of Apple's board, while John Ternus, the company's senior vice president of hardware engineering, will take over as CEO.

Addressing developers at the end of the keynote presentation, Cook described WWDC as one of the defining experiences of his time leading Apple. He said the event had consistently demonstrated how developers use the company's technologies to create new products and services for users around the world.

“Sharing powerful new tools with all of you and then seeing what you create with them has been a constant reminder that imagination has no limits. Over the years you have helped people connect, create, learn, and experience the world in extraordinary new ways,” Cook said.

Cook also expressed confidence in the company's future, pointing to the technologies unveiled during this year's conference and the products still under development.

"I truly believe the best is still ahead," he said.

Reflecting on Apple's broader mission, Cook said the company's guiding objective had always been to create products that enrich people's lives. He described it as the "honour of a lifetime" to contribute to that mission alongside Apple's employees.

The comments marked a notable moment in Apple's leadership transition. Cook has led the company since 2011, succeeding Steve Jobs.
