The interim government is delaying elections so that BNP cannot come to power through the people’s vote, claimed the party’s Vice Chairman Shamsuzzaman Dudu yesterday.

BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi yesterday questioned why reforms are being considered instead of elections, expressing concern that the interim government might be working with a "hidden agenda".

The BNP will hold talks with like-minded political parties to come up with a comprehensive action plan to drum up support for election by December. 

Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Shafiqur Rahman yesterday said the national election can be held only after basic reforms, the trial for crimes against humanity committed in July, and the establishment of a proper election system.
