Malaysia to protect rights of Bangladeshi workers
Malaysia will protect the legitimate interest of Bangladeshi workers, employed in different establishments in that country, reports UNB. An assurance to this effect was given at a meeting between Malaysian Deputy Human Resources Minister Dato Abdul Kadir Bin Haji Fadzir and Bangladesh State Minister for Labour and Manpower MA Mannan in Kuala Lumpur yesterday, according to a message received in Dhaka. MA Mannan, currently visiting Kuala Lumpur, also discussed with the Malaysian Deputy Minister the problems Bangladeshi workers facing there.
The meeting was also attended by Secretary General of the Malaysian Human Resources Ministry Dato Kong How Kodi, Director General, Manpower, Dato Zainal Abedin and Director General, Labour, Tenku Dato Omar. The Bangladesh side included the High Commissioner to Malaysia, Wazid Ali Khan Panni, Director General (Manpower) Kazi Abdul Bayes and Counsellor General (Labour) M Ismail Zabihullah. Later, the state minister visited Bangladesh High Commission and met Bangladeshi workers. He enquired about their welfare and asked them to abide by the rules and regulations and to respect Malaysian customs and traditions.
The state minister also visited National Panasonic Company at Shah Alam and met a large number of Bangladeshis working in the industrial unit. He expressed satisfaction over the working condition there and asked the Bangladeshi workers to work hard and acquire the technical skill.
