As the flood water is receding in some areas, trains leaving Dhaka can now reach Sylhet Railway Station.

Although the flood situation in Sylhet and Sunamganj remains unchanged, less rainfall from last night till this morning has caused the flood water level to drop in some areas.

The flooding in Kurigram and Lalmonirhat districts has worsened further as water in all rivers is flowing above the danger level.

The group of 21 students of Dhaka University, who were stranded in the heavy flooding in Sunamganj, were rescued with the help of the army.

"I was on the ground floor. After the water entered, I came to the balcony of the first floor along with other patients. There is no electricity. Candles are being used. I don't know how to get treatment,” said 58-year-old Farooq Ahmed, who was admitted to the Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital.

More than 72 percent of Sylhet division is under water. Out of four districts in Sylhet division – 89 percent area of Sunamganj, 72 percent of Sylhet, 70 percent of Habiganj, and 50 percent of Moulvibazar was submerged.

Heavy rains and rush of water from upstream in India's northeast have started flooding Habiganj, after Sunamganj and Sylhet have been submerged.

The Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education has asked the authorities of all schools and colleges in the flood-affected areas to get their establishments ready for sheltering people.

All train movement in and out of Sylhet Railway Station was suspended today due to flood.

Electricity connection was cut off all over Sylhet district today as all sub-stations was submerged in flood water.
