From tomorrow onwards, there is a strong chance of rain and thunderstorms in various parts of the country. Besides, there was a chance of rain in Dhaka between 5 and 10 pm today.

People in the port areas can heave a sigh of relief as the deep depression over the north Andaman Sea and the adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal is unlikely to intensify into a cyclone.

The depression over north Andaman Sea and adjoining southeast bay is likely to intensify further into a cyclonic storm by this afternoon and move in a north/northeasterly direction.

The well-marked low pressure in the southeast Bay of Bengal and its adjoining Andaman Sea has intensified into a depression, said Bangladesh Meteorological Department in a weather forecast bulletin issued at 9:00 am today.

It will be a rare instance of a cyclone hitting the coasts of Bangladesh and Myanmar in March if the low-pressure system brewing in the Bay of Bengal develops into a full-fledged cyclone “Asani”.
