UNB, Dhaka

Low-lying areas in coastal districts are likely to be inundated by tidal surges, the weather department said today (September 11, 2022).

These districts are Satkhira, Khulna, Bagerhat, Jhalokati, Pirojpur, Barguna, Patuakhali, Bhola, Barishal, Lakshmipur, Chandpur, Noakhali, Feni, Chattogram and Cox's Bazar.

Meanwhile, the well-marked low over west-central Bay and adjoining northeast Bay intensified into a depression and lies over coastal Odisha and adjoining Northwest Bay.

"It is likely to move west-northwestwards further," according to a special bulletin.

Squally weather may affect the maritime ports, North Bay and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh. Maritime ports in Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep hoist local cautionary signal-3.

Under its influence, deep convection is also taking place over north Bay and the adjoining area.

"All fishing boats and trawlers in the North Bay have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution until further notice," the department said.

They are also advised not to venture into the deep sea, it added.
