EC restores candidacy of 53 more aspirants

In total, 203 candidates regained eligibility in four days

Fifty-three more aspirants have regained their candidacy as the Election Commission (EC) today declared their appeals valid to contest the 13th National Parliamentary Election scheduled for February 12.

Today was the fourth day of reviewing appeals against returning officers’ decisions to reject nominations. On the day, the EC heard a total of 70 appeals, of which 53 were declared valid while 17 appeals were declared invalid.

With today’s decisions, a total of 203 candidates have regained their candidacy over the last four days.

The EC began its hearing on January 10 and will continue till January 18.

Earlier, a total of 645 appeals were filed between January 5 to 9 during the scrutiny of nomination papers.
