Toddler rescued within six hours of abduction in Chattogram
A 21-month-old girl was rescued within six hours of being abducted from Chattogram city on September 17, while a couple was arrested in connection with the incident, said the Special Response Battalion (SRB-7).
Sabiha Noor, daughter of Borkhan Uddin Titu of Kadurkhil village in Boalkhali upazila of Chattogram, was abducted from her home in the Kaptai Rastar Math area around 12:40pm that day.
During the investigation, SRB members detained a 15-year-old boy in Lalkhan Bazar area of the city and rescued Sabiha from his possession.
According to a press release issued yesterday, the boy told the SRB during interrogation that he had abducted Sabiha to hand her over to his maternal aunt and uncle, Dilo Ara Begum, 40, and her husband, Mohammad Mozammel Hossain, 41, in exchange for money.
Based on information provided by the boy, an SRB team arrested Mozammel in front of Swadhinata Complex and Dilo Ara in front of Chattogram Medical College Hospital.
The two suspects were handed over to Chandgaon Police Station for further legal action, the press release said, adding that the teenage boy remained in SRB custody.
