Missing for three days, man's body found hanging in Cox’s Bazar
Police today recovered the body of a man from a remote hilly area, three days after he went missing in Khurushkul union under Cox’s Bazar Sadar upazila.
The victim, Nayan Das, was a sebait (custodian) of Shor Ghona Nag Panchami Temple in the Purbo Hamzar Dail area, confirmed Officer‑in‑Charge Mohammad Samiuddin of Cox’s Bazar Sadar Model Police Station.
He was a resident of Fultala village in Satkania upazila's Dohazari, under Chattogram district.
He said locals spotted the body on Wednesday afternoon and informed police.
Family members said some people called Nayan out of his house around 9:00pm on Sunday (April 19) and he has been missing since.
Locals and temple associates searched the surrounding area before finding his body hanging from a tree in the nearby hill, with a cloth tied around his neck.
Police then recovered the body and sent it for autopsy.
OC Samiuddin said, “The body has been sent for post‑mortem after inquest. It will be known after the autopsy report whether it was a murder or suicide.”
Cox’s Bazar Superintendent of Police Sajedur Rahman said that investigators are examining all aspects, including how it happened and why in that specific location.
He confirmed that the victim’s wife had filed a complaint three days earlier and police had already been investigating his missing case.
