Case filed after housewife allegedly gang-raped in Mymensingh

A 22-year-old woman was allegedly gang-raped by a group of miscreants at Kurchai village in Gafargaon upazila of Mymensingh after breaking into her house early today.

The victim's mother lodged a rape case naming four individuals, Pagla Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Aminul Islam said.

The OC said the victim was sent to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital for medical examination and treatment. 

According to the case filed, the victim lives with her husband and child in one room of the house, while her mother occupies a separate room. Around 1:00am, a gang of approximately eight individuals broke open the door of the house, beat the victim's husband, tied up his hands and feet. The miscreants then dragged the woman to another location and allegedly raped her.

Upon hearing her screams, locals rescued the woman and brought her home.

Police said drives are underway to arrest the accused, though no arrests had been made at the time of filing this report at 4pm.
