Bangladeshi community in Germany accords reception to Hasina
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said that her government is committed to ensure food for everybody and establish a hunger and poverty-free society, reports BSS.
Addressing a reception accorded to her by the Bangladeshi community in Germany at Hamburg Sunday night, she said her government is also committed to ensure security and safety of lives of the people.
The reception was presided over by Habib Howladar, president of the reception committee. Besides those residing in different German cities, Bangladeshi expatriates in Austria, United Kingdom and the Netherlands also attended the function.
President of the Bangladesh Society of Hamburg Mohammad Adel formally welcomed the Prime Minister, while general secretary of Awami League, Germany unit, Mohammad Atqullah Conducted the function. Prominent leader of Bangladeshi nationals in Germany Anil Das also spoke.
The Prime Minister referred to the various issues resolved during her government's tenure in one year and said, "We have signed a long-term water sharing agreement with India." She said bilateral relations with different countries including the United States, Germany, other European countries and the Arab world have been strengthened.
Bangladeshi community living in Hamburg donated two thousand dollars to the Prime Minister's Relief Fund.
The reception was followed by a cultural function presented by Bangladeshi artistes living in Germany.
